Make your Marriage Partner Happy without Spending Money

You can make your partner by engaging in activities that will bond you together at no cost. This applies to all married couples, married or not. It is common for husbands to find it hard to spend money on holiday, dinner or any form of treat for their wives yet woman can be happy equally when given engaging love in action (I’m not talking about sex).

Suggested Dos!

You know what interests your partner other than the expensive holiday. It she likes cooking, try preparing together a special recipe and going to the markets to find ingredients together. this means that you have to help each other throughout the activities to the point of enjoying your dish together. Both of you should be interested in knowing and developing skills on this common interest.

If  you both have discovered that you look forward to and make time for a tennis match, a long bike ride or researching topics to discuss, then you are on the path to a deeper more enriching life together. The respect and integrity of your relationship becomes stronger.  Don’t forget too that these shared interests can be passed on to your children and remain a family interest with years of great memories and adventures to talk about.

Suggested Don’t Dos!

Don’t dos often come naturally or unplanned. I will give suggestions on some but the list is not conclusive.

  1. The i-Pad games or cell phone games are for play when you are all alone. Don’t play the game while you have your wife and kids in the lounge watching TV. I’m a victim to this and I have to change – TETRIS is the culprit.
  2. The newspaper in the car –NO. You may try reading it sparingly at the lounge yet be careful to engage with them when they talk to you.
  3. Eating at your friend’s or mother’s house is not good.
  4. Spending time with friends than you do with your family – NO.

Listen to your gut, talk to your spouse and ask others on what makes a good but free way to make your partner happy. It is possible and without trying you will never know it works – TRY IT!

3 Quick tips to help Christians perform at Work

Once you call yourself a Christian you have indirectly called out for public attention on how you live your life. I’m sure this website is a good example of how the word Christianity can create expectations of how the site should look and what it should address. Generally, all people even those that are not Christians know how Christians should live their lives. It is for this reason that I want to give tips for those that want to do their best at work and still maintain a good testimony of their Christian living.

Tips are not at any time conclusive but an addition or reminder to what would help achieve a particular goal. These are what I personally have applied and found them working for me and probably they will work for you too.

  1. Don’t be diverted by personal interests while at work. If you can, don’t bring your personal laptop at work because it is one factor to diverting from what you are expected to do at work. Avoid calling friends and making follow ups on your recent meetings, services or even church events. Even if you do have a chance to testify about your religion, make it snap and be ready to discuss it later during your own spare time with whoever has interest in what you say.
  2. Don’t shadow your work with your Christian beliefs. This is more of an attitude issue than a habit. Work as if you were not Christian and adhere to all rules and procedures that do not conflict with your religion. Don’t be lazy to do your work just because you can make an acceptable excuse for not participating. It has unfortunately become a common practice for people not to fully participate because of their religions. Watch out that you don’t abuse Christianity.
  3. Be a good listener. If you cannot take instructions correctly, you may find yourself rated low in your performance. Whatever you do, or whoever you are talking to, do yourself a favour by given him or her your utmost attention. Don’t do something else on the side while you are engaging with someone else.

Christians believe that their jobs are given by God and therefore should always be mindful to honour and represent Him appropriately. Living a Christ like life is not always easy but if you make an effort it will show to those that are looking on and it will benefit not only you, but will serve as a testimony for who we believe in.

The Devil alive on Facebook

People simply like or rather they are addicted to evil and that is why if you are not careful, you may be caught up in the devil’s web on Facebook. The same applies to any other social network including whatsapp why if you are not careful, you may be caught up in the devil’s trap. Facebook forbids any forms of sexual uncleanness in the network but people will try to beat the rule and post close to revealing photos and name them with the unclean names.

The lure to participate in sexual uncleanness may come in many ways. I’m sure my experience is not unique to me but you may have been trapped at one point just like I did.

The story

It wasn’t the common girls that aim at scamming others but a friendlier approach that leads to doing the devil’s will.

I get this friend request and I open it. The name and surname sounded familiar, gentlemen of my age and living in my country Swaziland.  I now want see some more of his photos to help me identify him better – there the trap was. A photo not so descent such that it diverted my focus to something else. This lady is half naked and all else she is wearing is revealing. I got trapped right on Facebook, a social network that forbids p – o – r – n.

Thank God it dawned on me before I was taken away far that the devil has put spirits on the photo that is posted this friend request. The devil will do everything to make you sin against God. Surely the devil likes it when you sin more and more to the point where you think God wont forgive you.

Watch out

Facebook can be a vehicle to sin. There could be many more ways that evil may be promoted through this social network. Watch out and be clever as a serpent (Matthew 10:16). Shun such things and pray for wisdom to quickly identify such things.

The honour of spreading the Word of God

It is an honour to be a preacher of the Word of God, which is contrary to what many have now come to understand about preaching. Today preachers of the Word are most flamboyant in many ways.

I am really privileged to spend a few dollars just to share what God has to say to His people through the internet. As I view the statistics on who and where people visit my site, I get comfort in knowing that I’m instrumental in spreading the Word of truth.

My work is at holinessadvocate.com. I post articles from my Pastor’s sermons and some of my own. I find my Pastor’s sermon relevant to giving answers to today’s confusion about Christianity today. To make my work reach out to more, I occasionally work at a magazine that is published online in the very website and promote some Christian books through the same site. However, I must confess that I haven’t done justice to the magazine work God has called me to.

No excuse is acceptable for sinning – Reminder

Just when I was browsing the net the other day, I saw an article titled ‘Is it sin to have sex before marriage?’ as if it’s a question with an answer already. To me it sounded like the author of this article knew that sin includes sexual activity even with the right partner but before marriage (meaning that its the wrong partner at the time). One pastor once said that if you have a question about it, most likely it is sin.

Surprisingly, even failing to do what God expects you to do for any reason, its sin to you. Many would claim to be busy with other compelling assignments from employers and elsewhere, but God’s work should remain a priority. Often we hear people justify why they want to have sex before marriage, why they do drugs, why they steal and many more justifications to do sin, yet God has one command – keep my commandments. Recently I wrote an article inspired by one of the sermons by my pastor on ‘The fear of the Lord that is lost’. I recon people should take the matter of keeping God’s commandments seriously because the

consequences are not only after this life but even while we live in this world.

God help me finish up whatever I start – Who cares anyway?

Surely I am not the only one that findsmyself having started on something, have it half done and then fail to bring it to completion. I know for a fact that if the very first website I designed were still online today; same domain name, same type of content, it would be worth more than at least US $ 50 000 now. I have decided to make this my prayer request because I have had brilliant ideas in the past and now when I see those that had similar ideas, some even took it from me, and ran with them, I regret having given up early.

It is unfortunate that while one starts implementing some idea or a project, there are costs involved. I recall the time I was passionate about fine art, I spent a lot of money on canvas, oil paints, brushes, frames and many more yet it all died down and that money went down the drain – the devil at work. At one point I spent on a CD/DVD blanks printer that never produced even a single sellable product yet in my mind I had an idea to produce some CDs. Many projects that could have made me achieve my intended goals were left hanging. My pastor is unfortunately a witness to this because when I get convinced that a particular project is thee project to take through, I let him know. Too bad that none that my pastor has been made aware of so far has been taken to the end.
Probably that is why my friends are sceptic in supporting me. Often people that I expect to support me drag their feet. They know I start to fail yet it always is not my intention to fail. I wish they could know that I need them the most when the project I started haphazardly gets abandoned. That’s when the reminders make me feel accountable.
I know you might be sharing similar sentiments for yourself or someone that you know. The solution is turning to God which I purpose to do with the belief of undoubted results.
I know and understand that the devil likes the practice of abandoning projects and most likely he is the cause but today I purpose to take those projects that are worth reviving to completion. Now that I understand it spiritually, I realise it is a warfare and want to keep this in my prayer request list.
I will list the projects and set deadlines for them. I will keep praying for their successful completion until each of them has been completed. It is comforting to know that God hears our prayers and answers them, exactly what I will be testifying about in the near future.
Who cares? The difficult question but if you would say a prayer for me in this regard it would add to my success. Even if you say it in passing, God will hear and answer that prayer. Do indicate below by posting a comment please.
I encourage you to do the same, pray to God for assistance, God will see you through.

The Gospel of CeCe Winans and Donnie McCluckin Surprise

CeCe Winans and Donnie McCluckin had visited the home continent, Africa and I was privileged to attend their show in Swaziland. Thanks to Pastor Watmore Makwara from Family Worship Center International. This was in June 1st 2013. I’m aware that putting a date on a post might not be a good idea yet when it comes to the Gospel; time is not an issue at all.

When they both took the stage at the very beginning, it was breath taking. I had admired each of them in isolation on TV, CDs and on the radio. Seeing them live was something out of this world. A surprising response from the audience was to record them with phones and tablets until Donny told everyone to put them down. It was not a pleasant suggestion from the performer because I and many others ignore that and kept recording. To us it was more than just their performance but a once in a lifetime opportunity that we’d want to keep on record.

There is a lot I can say about that show, but I can share a few on the quality of their performance:

  1. Both of them are obviously well experienced in the industry. This was revealed by the excellence of their performance. Definitely our show was one of the smallest to them I guess it was smaller even that the congregation they go to at their home churches.
  2. They cannot do well as much if their band is poor. The band was polished and gave a very close experience to what we see on TV.

The Gospel

This is more on their personal qualities:

  1. Friendly, CeCe was always wearing a smile as she always does on TV. Donny was friendly in his words. I actually liked the old man. To me he seemed like one of ours with a local name Sibusiso and a cool recite of the South African national anthem.
  2. Christ Jesus was upheld as the solution for personal challenges. I recall the last item was an alter call that united a few with the Lord Jesus.
  3. Christian principles in their speech were exactly what we know true Christians should uphold. They were true Christians to me.

Can I conclude?

I was hoping I would see more of news coverage not only the Swaziland show, but also throughout the region. Anyway, I have expressed my thoughts on this and I do welcome those that attended to voice their comments.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is indeed the same globally. I’m sure God likes it like that and let every man keep it like that.

Window shop for Christian books online

Window shopping online is not a new thing but it has not been of help when it comes to buying unless you have a credit card, particularly in developing countries like Swaziland. It still is the case with most people but I like the fact that you may still benefit by window shopping online even without really buying from where you saw your products. You may take time reading about the specs of the product such that when you go to the shop in town, you know what questions to ask, brand to look for and ultimately the product to buy.

I’d like to introduce the website holinessadvocate.com shopping page to Christians around the world, particularly those in Swaziland. In Swaziland, you can now window shop for Christian material and educational material that you can either buy online or walk to a shop, our shop in Mbabane and get the book you like. Topics and prices vary as you would expect.

The good things about books is that they also make good gifts for your fellow brethren. For example, in the previous post, I suggest a book to buy for a Pastor’s wife. You may buy the same book for your wife, a friend, sister or fiancé.

You are welcome to browse or shopping page in this link.

The Perfect Gift for the Pastor’s Wife

What could be the perfect gift for a Pastor’s wife when there are so many qualities that need to be continually nurtured and material things that she needs just so she is equipped to play her role much easier and better. Your answer is as good as mine; ‘countless’. It therefore means that gifts fit for a Pastor’s wife are also countless.
Traditionally, a Pastor’s wife is a councillor to the mothers, youth and Sunday school kids in church. As much as it might not be the case in most churches today, it still applies for Pastor’s wives to give counselling to these groups in one or the other.

Some Qualities
1.    Courage – this is not dependant on the size of the church as some may assume, but by the virtue of being a Pastor’s wife, she needs the courage to face daily one-on-one meetings with members of the church. Further to that, his husband, the Pastor, needs her to be courageous to support him lead the church.
2.    Patience–people differ, without patience, the Pastor’s wife may soon get tired and begin to be selective of people to assist and those to avoid.
3.    Friendliness – friendliness means being approachable, easier to talk to and being warm hearted. Long-time members and visitors may prefer seeing the Pastor’s wife for any assistance they need as opposed to the Pastor. These people should feel welcome to approach the pastor’s wife.
4.    Wisdom–it is not every form of assistance that a Pastor’s wife can provide. She needs to know what to refer to the Pastor, elders, etc.
The list is endless as you know, but you also can assist the Pastor’s wife to nurture the qualities she needs. Even if you need help in these qualities yourself, you can help her by giving a perfect gift such as a good book (click here) she will read at her own time.
I believe it is true that a husband is as good as the wife can allow. If your Pastor is good with his duties, it goes to say that the wife offers her support and the impact is positive. The above listed qualities and more, are necessary to support the Pastor.
A good Pastor’s wife is one that will encourage his husband to keep doing what is right before God and fulfil all his duties as a husband as well. A busy person like the Pastor needs encouragement. I suggest a book by H. Norman Wright ‘Bringing out the Best in Your Husband’.
H. Norman Wright addresses an important subject that many wives need to improve on. A husband that is encouraged by his wife goes further that the norm and it is the best thing a wife can do for his husband. Every wife should read this book. It is amazing that the benefits will definitely come back to you as the wife who encourages your man.
If you are in Swaziland, you can get the book from our bookshop behind the main post office. It goes for E 120.00 or buy it online by clicking here.
