Sin is a snare and many people have one weak point for sin. I have seen people struggle to stop smoking, drinking, womanizing, telling lies, etc. but doing good in other aspects. This is where the devil triumphs – ‘You many win in other ares but fail in one or two’. The devil knows that it takes only one sin to lead to hell, his greatest desire.

In the Bible, we are given examples of people that were in tempting situations but would not for sin because they did something about. I’m reminded of Joseph and Potiphar’s wife, Joseph was wise enough to understand the intent of the old woman and knew the right time to action. I have written an article to that effect ‘Ultimate power to conquer sin – pull the plug!‘.

I know God can help if you are willing to be assisted. It takes an effort on your side as well. God cannot overpower your will but can only help you where you are unable to control and see. I know for many it takes time to turn around but sadly, the longer the time one takes to do things right, the more the danger of dying in the wrong place.

I pray for you to gain strength to overcome the sin that you struggle with. Pray for yourself too and God will listen and assist you only if you are sincere.

Window shopping online is not a new thing but it has not been of help when it comes to buying unless you have a credit card, particularly in developing countries like Swaziland. It still is the case with most people but I like the fact that you may still benefit by window shopping online even without really buying from where you saw your products. You may take time reading about the specs of the product such that when you go to the shop in town, you know what questions to ask, brand to look for and ultimately the product to buy.

I’d like to introduce the website holinessadvocate.com shopping page to Christians around the world, particularly those in Swaziland. In Swaziland, you can now window shop for Christian material and educational material that you can either buy online or walk to a shop, our shop in Mbabane and get the book you like. Topics and prices vary as you would expect.

The good things about books is that they also make good gifts for your fellow brethren. For example, in the previous post, I suggest a book to buy for a Pastor’s wife. You may buy the same book for your wife, a friend, sister or fiancé.

You are welcome to browse or shopping page in this link.

What could be the perfect gift for a Pastor’s wife when there are so many qualities that need to be continually nurtured and material things that she needs just so she is equipped to play her role much easier and better. Your answer is as good as mine; ‘countless’. It therefore means that gifts fit for a Pastor’s wife are also countless.
Traditionally, a Pastor’s wife is a councillor to the mothers, youth and Sunday school kids in church. As much as it might not be the case in most churches today, it still applies for Pastor’s wives to give counselling to these groups in one or the other.

Some Qualities
1. Courage – this is not dependant on the size of the church as some may assume, but by the virtue of being a Pastor’s wife, she needs the courage to face daily one-on-one meetings with members of the church. Further to that, his husband, the Pastor, needs her to be courageous to support him lead the church.
2. Patience–people differ, without patience, the Pastor’s wife may soon get tired and begin to be selective of people to assist and those to avoid.
3. Friendliness – friendliness means being approachable, easier to talk to and being warm hearted. Long-time members and visitors may prefer seeing the Pastor’s wife for any assistance they need as opposed to the Pastor. These people should feel welcome to approach the pastor’s wife.
4. Wisdom–it is not every form of assistance that a Pastor’s wife can provide. She needs to know what to refer to the Pastor, elders, etc.
The list is endless as you know, but you also can assist the Pastor’s wife to nurture the qualities she needs. Even if you need help in these qualities yourself, you can help her by giving a perfect gift such as a good book (click here) she will read at her own time.
I believe it is true that a husband is as good as the wife can allow. If your Pastor is good with his duties, it goes to say that the wife offers her support and the impact is positive. The above listed qualities and more, are necessary to support the Pastor.
A good Pastor’s wife is one that will encourage his husband to keep doing what is right before God and fulfil all his duties as a husband as well. A busy person like the Pastor needs encouragement. I suggest a book by H. Norman Wright ‘Bringing out the Best in Your Husband’.
H. Norman Wright addresses an important subject that many wives need to improve on. A husband that is encouraged by his wife goes further that the norm and it is the best thing a wife can do for his husband. Every wife should read this book. It is amazing that the benefits will definitely come back to you as the wife who encourages your man.
If you are in Swaziland, you can get the book from our bookshop behind the main post office. It goes for E 120.00 or buy it online by clicking here.
